If you already know eStore, you know its great value for money. It’s everything you need in a shopping cart for WordPress with one downside, lack of payment options. You may have used themes like ShopperPress that provide an array of payment options including Google Checkout. eStore does not support a lot of payment methods however the author has coded it very well so upgrading it is easy!

You will see that I added a new button for my RomanCart customisation. That was the easy and fun part. In order to make this work I had to create new form objects on the New Product page. RomanCart requires a product ID to be submitted that matches the product stored on the RomanCart store, every time a product is submitted for purchase. This still has to happen and so this modification renders a RomanCart shopping cart plugin for WordPress in a way because the user will always see the RomanCart basket appear. I won’t go into how it is all done but does leave a degree of flexability because RomanCart provides all the major payment methods. The difference here is simply that the user can select Paypal straight away and many users will not realise RomanCart will even allow them to use Paypal, which might turn them away instantly. So now a user will see both Paypal and RomanCart in the “Payment Method” menu.

Sales Increase

This setup has increase sales by around 15% on the side in question. That is a steady increase over around a week and it happened straight after these modifications. Very impressive. If you use eStore or RomanCart and want to increase your sales then we should talk. If your current site is not WordPress you can get a brand new website with full content management, product management, customer management and much more. I charge around £500 for such an e-commerce site. This does not include eStore, that must be purchased seperate from the authors website and I will charge only £49.99 to make the modifications required.

I made some great modifications to the eStore plugin. It’s a great plugin and I shout about it all the time but my client has very specific needs so that means we can strip eStore down a touch and make te interface easier to use. Couple extra features like a WYSIWYG then makes product management for my client…a breeze!

WYSIWYG Editor Adding To A Shopping Cart!

WYSIWYG Editor on Add/Edit products page for instantly creating your product page.

Product thumbnail field removed and thumbnail created from an image found in WYSIWYG editor.

Product thumbnail automatically linked to it’s own product page for when displaying elsewhere.

Subscription options removed along with many other fields.

A client of WebTechGlobal recently decided to upgrade their website by replacing a standard php brochure styled site with basic e-commerce ability. With a WordPress blog and full customisation where needed including theme or plugins. My choosen shopping cart plugin is eStore which I also use on my own website because I think it is great. However I need a product page for every product and most shopping carts do not manage that well. We’re manually entering the code to display a product in a post arent we and to do that the post comes first. So you create a draft post then you create a product, then you enter the product details into the posts content then publish.

Why not simple have post created with the product being entered into it automatically?

That is what I’m actually doing right now. I just finished modifying eStore Add/Edit product page. It now creates a new post because I added the WYSIWYG editor to the Add/Edit page! On saving the plugin appends the code required for displaying the product to the end of the posts content, this is where most people will want it but it’s easy edited later. I even deleted much of the form options because my client doesnt need them and also added the ability to select the blog categories for your new post to be published too. Simple and theres now less form objects than before so it’s far simplier for less experianced users who do not need all the functions provided such as subscription payments.

Cart Auto Page Plugin

I’m now wondering if it would be worth developing a plugin that provides similiar functionality and works with all popular shopping cart plugins. If I go ahead with it I’ll name it Cart Auto Page. This new plugin would provide the ability to initially add products through it’s own pages. An inteface would be designed to suit each cart plugin in a dynamic way. I’m not sure about the demand for such a plugin but I’m keen to complete it by March. I’ve also considered the possibility of building in functions that help transfer products from one cart plugin database to another should someone decide they want to use a different cart after already establishing a large product base.

If these sound interesting and appeal to you please let me know. The more interest the faster the higher the priority. Donations will also support development and will come with access to the premium version, which I also do with my plugins.
