WordPress and ECI Generating Traffic

For a long time I’ve known of Easy CSV Importers ability to generate thousands of hits within minutes. However it is not Easy CSV Importers design or intention to do so. Recent information has suggested this only happens at the point of a post being created or updated. Something ECI does in massive amounts in a short time. So those of your importing affiliate data with URL’s that all go to the same site, might generate a lot of hits to a single site.

Under normal use thisĀ behaviorĀ is fine. But when auto-blogging it is not always wanted.

I’m investigating the true cause. I suspect WordPress, failing that a standard server action trigger by WordPress post create or update functions. I may be wrong but one thing I know is that ECI has no functions that crawl links or URL’s. ECI simple pieces together strings of data and passes them to WordPress functions. Well for the post create and update procedures anyway.

I opened a thread on the WordPress.org forum to see if we can get an answer to what exactly is happening when we auto-blog, with links in our template…
