ECI BETA 2.1 Available
We’re getting there and I’m happy to say that I am taking my time. We don’t want another plugin that works great to start with but after a few upgrades it breaks and the code is so complicated not even the author can fix it without wasted valuable hours. That is my situation with ECI 1.7 and I’m working hard, as many of you know, to get a re-built plugin out to everyone. ECI 2.1 includes the ability to automate data import and post creation. Nothing is finished but you will find much difference in how the plugin operates. For example if an event is due and you happen to be logged in to your blog, a message will appear telling you that ECI is running an event. This is handy for testing, you can set your project up to allow such events after minute so that you can test the effect of a “spreadout” Speed Profile. Which is the new way of saying “staggered” as I used to call it. Speed Profiles control the workload per event and they all have a type which determines how the plugin behaves when making use of a projects Speed Profile. The “spreadout” type tells the plugin to hide the buttons for manual import and to make use of the Next Event time which results in automated events when the Next Event time is reached/overdue.
No solid instructions for the plugin will come until far more features are added. I’m hoping February will be documentation and demonstration month meaning I want to get this plugin finished this month without fail. To do that I need some testing to be done, opinions on the interface are most critical. I do already have a long list of things to be added to the plugin but I’m always keen to make that list longer so email anytime.
