ECI 6.3.7 Available For Testing
I added a panel to help us recognise when automatic events happen i.e. updating. Now that I’ve added it, I can think of a better approach to knowing exactly what an update project is doing and as soon as I post this I will begin working on it.
Updating Panel
A new table will appear at the top of every ECI page if you select the Scheduled/Spreadout speed profile. It shows some basic information to help monitor Updating mainly. It is still an area that causes trouble with most users so more work is required to make it easier. This is not the last thing to be done either, more is coming.
Post Author Condition
This feature has been asked for by a few users. The ability to import user data while creating posts. The new condition will create a user for any email address not already used. The new user ID will be assigned to the post as author when that email address is within the record used to create the post. If the email address does exist in the blog then ECI gets the existing users ID and uses that. Meaning, if 20 records hold the same email address then 20 posts will be assigned to that author either way.
- This is a feature that needs some more testing.
- The feature can be configured by opening the Conditions panel on the Project Configuration screen.
- Minimum requirement is an email address column, no login/user-name column required but preffered
WTG Notice Boxes
I released a new plugin, simple, easy and did not take long. It is a plugin that can be used with Easy CSV Importer to improve your content so I thought I would get it done straight away.
WTG Notice Boxes allows you to display content in styled boxes. There is enough styles to get going with it but I think we’ll need to add more later. You can also do a little content spinning with them so adding one with some variations, is another way to help your content appear unique to search engines.
I have ideas to expand WTG Notice Boxes (top secret) in ways that will also help ECI users. So it is one to watch for sure and I appreciate any ECI users trying it out.
CSV Storage Folder Changes
A folder had been added to the Easy CSV Importer package called csvfiles. All the test files I use and provide will now be stored there. There was a little too many after recent testing, there is a now a file with an email address column for testing the ability to create users while creating posts (creating authors for new posts). The other default paths have been renamed also. This will only effect you if you install the plugin for the first time or re-install it.
Keeping in mind that the csv files folder within the plugin, is a risk when upgrading. You must remember to copy any files you have uploaded to that folder, to the new installation.
