ECI 1.6.0 + Widget Added
This is an interesting upgrade, the first widget has been setup. It took me a while to decide the best approach for a basic but worth using prototype. Well some people might find it handy, for others I will add more advanced widgets later. Please let me know what you need, anything wish you could display in any fashion I can probably do.
Upgrade Instructions
I’ve decided we need upgrade instructions, sometimes it is not recommended to upgrade without backing everything up with such a plugin. This version does not require backup. You will notice strange values on the settings area for Widgets, simply because the settings are not initiated. Simply save forms for a first time to make them show correctly.
Changes
- Widget added for random item display. It will select a random record and display some of its contents in your sidebar. It can be configured to suit your projects csv file and database table for that project.
- Widget admin page added. I realised that simple widget controls would not be enough, I plan to make widgets very advanced to support those of you dealing with product data especially. I think Real Estate will be a big thing also, maybe the ability to display a search form in the sidebar that searches specific critera within the project table rather than searching the blog itself. If this sounds good let me know otherwise it might never happen.
- You can now set your own status for duplicate posts, some people want duplicates, it is important for them to make duplicate titled posts publish. By default a duplicate detected will be set to private for review.
- Setting added for maximum excerpt length however it is not yet in use. Some alterations need to be made to code for it to take effect. This will be done for the next version.
Next Upgrades Planned For 8th September 2010
- Complete maximum excerpt size upgrade.
- Run test on staggered methods due to a possible bug. (please provide information if any)
- Still trying to get hold of a list of ClassiPress custom fields, I do not have the theme myself. Any information would help. I have contacted the themes author so will be chasing this up also.
