Web Tech Global Solutions Update

Jul 9th, 2010 // In: Blog // By: Comments 0

I’ve not long replaced my entire website and thought it might be time for an official place for my customer to channel into some news/updates. It is the third time I’ve replaced the website in the last 12 months, all in the aim of perfecting a foundation to something bigger. Everything from the sites design to the database has been deleted and started from scratch with the exception of sales/customer data. I’m finally happy with the WebTechGlobal site and it is time to make some impressive progress on developing for you.

Easy CSV Importer 1.5 – Due By 16th June 2010

I’ve always aimed for a new version per week when possible and a minimum of one new release every two weeks. However version 1.5 may take a little longer than most. I’ve re-structured the data that the plugin stores in the WordPress options table, not a small thing. Much code needs to be edited then tested. This is not a version to be rushed and you will be updated regarding it’s release.

Function Changes

  1. Multiple layouts per campaign, assign layouts to be applied to different rows of data based on category or certain values with a column.
  2. Improved ability to re-install or un-install the plugins settings plus project databases.
  3. The interface configuration is based on your answers in a new question system. Simply answer simple questions and the plugin will adapt to best suit your needs. This is something I plan to expand greatly for those of you who are using ECI in the most serious way i.e. Blog2Blog with multiple blogs.

WARNING

Version 1.5 cannot be used to overwrite existing installations without some blog surgery. This is due to the extensive changes in the data structure stored within the WordPress options table for the new version. To make 1.5 work with blog installations using  1.3 or older you must either manually delete existing entries to the options table or use the new data delete buttons in 1.5. Deleting such data will erase existing project history, complete or otherwise so please consider your project status before taking this action.

E-mail Updates Using Customer Service Plugin

I finally got my customer service plugin running just before I replaced the entire website so once again it was disabled. The plugin is integrated with eStore and is meant to respond to sales by automatically creating blog accounts then sending the login details to customers. Much of these systems are not activate in the new blog yet so your all missing updates from me still.

They will be activated some at a time so I can monitor their effects and I aim to release Easy CSV Importer 1.5 in conjunction with newsletters to update everyone regarding the release. We all know how WordPress plugins and themes can conflict resulting in hours of bug hunting etc. So again this is another thing not to be rushed as I increase customer service and modernise my online operations.

Paypal Reference Submission To Download Plugins – Due By 16th June 2010

My customer service plugin is also about to get an upgrade which will help everyone access their purchased products. It will become the only method of downloading my software. Sending a link to you by email or presenting a link on my website checkout page will no longer be happen once this upgrade is in place. My aim is to get all customers into their own accounts straight away, you simply need to register using your paypal email address where possible. Then within your account you will be able to submit your paypal reference number for your purchase. The plugin will check that the reference is not only valid but what product you purchased. It will then assign access to your account for that product which you will then be able to download anytime.

Points Reward System

I will be adding a basic points rewards system to the WordPress Customer Service plugin just as soon as the latest version of Easy CSV Importer is released. I wanted it in place already but it was delayed when I made the sudden decision to replace the entire WebTechGlobal website. Points will be rewarded to all accounts for login in, purchases, commenting on pages, signing up to the forum, commenting on forum including replies, submitting your blog posts which I accept for publishing and more. The points will be spendable on products and services. I plan to make a point worth a single British penny as we trade Worldwide but our offices are in Scotland. This will keep it simple and all we need to do is issue you 100 points for £1.00, one GBP for example. Obviously you will not receive such a high amount simply for visiting the blog or making comments but the aim is to return some of our profit to you, especially that gained from advertising.
